Love Letter to my Brides & whoever is in need of reclaiming their spirit.

Dear Bride

How are you doing today? It’s Saira from Breath of Henna and I wanted to see how you were doing in the midst of planning your special day. I have merged together words of welcoming a new season; an awakening to self care with a LOVE LETTER for you. I hope these words help diffuse the unsettling noise in your mind and help you enjoy the days to come.

You are human. You have every right to feel overwhelmed while reading the news and trying to maintain your strengths in front of your loved ones.  Firstly, kindly embrace yourself for you have survived a year within a worldwide adversity where many tribulations have come your way. Time is precious and we have oceans of it, along with blessings from the Universe. The following words of encouragement are for you because  you too are in need of love, light and the sound of laughter.

I am sharing this with you because I too was a Bride and post wedding trauma is real. My letter here is to simply share some daily practices of mindfulness as your beautiful love story blossoms into its next chapter; your marriage day. You are not alone. We are here, together. With the gifts that you have (your intuition, your heart and food as fuel. you can begin by expressing your emotions. Be vulnerable - we have learned that to respond with our words we can diffuse the reactive energy in our bodies. This causes less pain, less chances of us victimizing ourselves from past wounds and allows us to remain present in our present feelings. While journaling these past 12 months; every month we have learned how to align ourselves with clarity (words chosen) and release ourselves of outer influences when trying to express our truths. We have learned how to take our power back with language we choose and the words that we associate with.

Now, as you write your true love letter, you will enhance a voice that was always a part of you. Dear, you are not changing yourself to think like another being, your letter is the beginning of acknowledging your present feelings. These words will help you shift the pain and move through the grief of what you have been feeling in these past few months, years.  As your bridal journey commences from this day forward, write yourself a ‘love letter’ to rediscover yourself. Ask yourself these following questions while writing your Love Letter.

What is my name? Who am I? What do I love
?

Begin your letter by writing ‘Dear (your name)’. You should always start your day with certainty. Acknowledging that you are present; living, breathing, confident, intelligent, beautiful, healthy and loved are all very crucial to living your life. When you set your alarm to start your day (some act naturally) we wake up with panic, an endless list of tasks at hand. Simply let go of your tasks and begin with your name, say it with a smile on your face. Accept your name and move into your relationship with your heart. Introduce yourself like you would have to your fiance: things you love, be specific. If you love dance, what kind of dance, if you love music, what are your favourite songs. If you love silence, describe a fantasy built into your reality.

Adorn yourself.

Be mindful of your words of encouragement. Attend to your adornments. Wear your favourite jewels; your engagement ring, a family heirloom, your birthstone, and try on your wedding jewelry. Adorn yourself with favourites and dress those lips with a smile. Read your words of praise and profoundness out loud. A Bride you are, but before that you are YOU. Continue your letter with an encouraging memory from your childhood; one that leaves a sweet taste in your mouth after tasting the honey off of a honeycomb or the fresh froth of homemade chai. Give it a go and write your mind’s adventures. There are no limits here as your present self needs to bask in happiness.
I’ve shed tears when allocating time to write down my favourite moments, this is the third embrace. Savour it.

Embrace your Reflection.

You may have been distant from your reflection. Self care is an essential part of your living and increases opportunities of happiness and willingness.

I too was feeling at a loss of words during my wedding preparations and everyone deterred my emotions with common stress and anxiety. Nothing was normal about my anxiety. I knew I had to carry the feelings of emptiness and financial burdens alone, but I still communicated my difficulties with my friends. I was alone on this path of physical and spiritual negligence and I had no idea what powers I had, let alone what they meant.

I want you to lean in close to your mirror and look at yourself closely.

I want you to write your dearest truths regarding your feelings about how these past two weeks have affected your wedding plans. Be selfish. Ownership of your emotions is an ability of strength that you share with your mind and spirit. Your heart will listen now because you have the power to hear it through. Remember, life brings forth changes and challenges, patience will follow through.
You now have a community supporting you. Share this to your loved ones.

Daily Celebration.

Finally, please take a deep breath to acknowledge that you did great today.

Sign off your LOVE LETTER with immense generosity to your heart, mind and soul. You have discovered a new form of healing through reflection and reason. Write,
‘Dear (your name), I am beautiful and I am grateful for the love in my life.’

Practice this daily and do not hesitate to look at yourself in the mirror. Do not disregard your feelings over tasks. While we practice social distancing, remember to share stories with your families, intergenerational conversations are some of my favourites. If you need any further wedding advice, please be sure to send me an email through my website. Share this with other Brides you know and please remember, you are not alone.

Sharing with you and your loved ones, the power of self reflection in times of need. May we all come out of social distancing with more patience, ease, community and healthier life practices. May you and your loved ones be at ease during this uncertain time while valuing connection and creativity.

LOVE,
SAIRA
